This scientific journal publishes new empirical studies that improve theoretical understanding of human visual cognition. Studies can relate to any aspect of visual cognition, such as recognition of objects, persons and scenes; visual attention and search; short-term and long-term visual memory; visual recognition and reading of words; control eye movement and active vision; and visual images. The journal is devoted to research on the interface of visual perception and cognition, and generally does not publish articles in the areas of perception and psychophysics, which covered a number of publications for those topics.
